Tick Tock...

Never thought I would ever say this so soon but...I'm getting old. *bursts out in tears*
I had a bit of a moment on my way to work today. Whilst listening to music at the loudest volume with my earphones plugged in (this is a necessity in Lagos traffic...especially when you're in a public bus, trust me. If not for anything but to shoo away the weirdos who always seem to have a very 'important' question to ask you) Taylor Swift's 22 was playing and of course, the chorus got me singing along.

There I was in the passenger seat nodding my head to the beat;
' I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22...'

Then it hit me...I was 22 three years ago! THREE years!!! Where the heck did time go???

And as if that wasn't enough trauma for me, The Wonder Years by Jon Bellion came next on my playlist. The lyrics?
'So take me back to the days when I was younger all this bulls**t is overrated...'

Like seriously?
Gee, thanks guys...thanks for making me feel young again.

Urgh. I had a list of so many things I planned to have gotten off my plate by now.
And yes, I know what the 'African minds' are thinking. Marriage was on that list. Happy now? *rolls eyes*

But then, I realize how MUCH more by His grace I have achieved beyond my original plans and Jeremiah 29 verse 11 comes to mind;
'For I know the thoughts I have towards you, thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you a hope and a future, an expected end'

Or like The Message translation puts it;
'I know what I am doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for'

Plus, He rightly said in Isaiah 55 verse 9;
'For just as the sky is higher than the earth so are my deeds superior to your deeds and my plans superior to your plans.'

That word 'superior' lays it all to rest. Cause if He decides to show me a glimpse of the awesome things He has set up for my future, age would be the least of my concerns.
But really though, it's not that big a deal. 25 IS young (I mean, I'm not even 25 yet and a lot can happen in a space of six months) but I've still got so much to do with so little time to make my mark on this world.
And if not now, when?

'If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin' - Ivan Turgenev

  1. Deep...very deep.
    Yes age is but just a number.
    But our prayer is to always overcome each milestones of our life. And may God help us do that by His grace, in Jesus' name, Amen.
