Folake Give Me Love Oh!

I just LOOOOOVE Folake Kuye Huntoon's style!!! If there was any wardrobe I could raid, it sure as heck will be hers...no second thoughts on that. She pulls off just about ANY look so effortlessly.
And to cap it all up, babe is a 40 year old that has a body of a '25iver'. Plus she's got kids...three of 'em!

Every lady has a style icon, more like a string of them. It's just odd that I am yet to hear of anyone that has her on such list and that's partly cause not many people know who she is. And to think that her trend beats so many celebrities' hands down (you name them).

And here's just a few reasons why...

My bad. I just couldn't stop my fingers from taking so many screenshots. I would love to carry on if I could but then, my fingers hurt...

Fabulous though, isn't she? <3

Young Contemporaries '17

For those of you who didn't know, Art was my 'first' love. Yep, even before food. You just might find that hard to believe, I know...

I'm always somewhat eager to attend art exhibitions- first off, they are usually free plus they sometimes have free nibbles and drinks *grin*
Well to be honest, I only just started making a conscious effort to make myself available for such events about two years ago, all of which had featured works by friends or acquaintances of mine. Talented people surround me. Sure fact.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend yet another exhibition with yet another friend of mine's artworks on display. This was tagged 'Young Contemporaries 2017' and it held at the Rele Gallery.

Quite the compact showcase but nevertheless bustled with lots of life and of course, color.
Loved every little minute of it...

'DIMEJI
Digital Photography
These were my friend's @lexxcodi pieces. They had a story-like background around them basically about how man was called to be not just a subduer but also a preserver of the earth  (Genesis 1 vs 28)
He doesn't normally take pictures of models per say. He's more of a freelance photographer so this was something new from him in my perspective.
Did I mention the models are twins?

MARCELLINA
Mixed Media- Ankara Material

EZEKIEL
Acrylic on Canvas
I think the second piece was titled 'Woman Scorned' or something of the sort. You kind of feel the emotions painted on her face.

REWA
Acrylic on Paper
Works coined out of her experiences in London, Johannesburg and Lagos.

SEJIRO
Mixed Media
Every single piece of his was lovely. But this one gave off that 'Blair Waldorf' feel which I really liked.

Keeping my ears and eyes peeled for more art exhibitions this year. It sort of has a way of opening your mind to wider perspectives in relation to creativity...

The #rePlay Series: ePisode 8

'If I could bottle this up, bottle, bottle this up, I would...' *shimmy dance*

There's just something about Andy Grammer's sound that makes the corners of my lips turn up in a smile. If I could use a word to describe it I'd say, 'Refreshing'.
Yes. That's the word.

I first discovered one of his singles, Honey, I'm Good through the Rick Dees Top 40 Radio Show (my one-stop-shop for international hits) and instantly took a liking to his genre of music.
Then this one came along, Fresh Eyes. Really lovely tune. Thing is, I heard it on the radio, downloaded it, listened to it a couple of very random times and totally forgot I had it on my playlist.
Then I saw his feature on CNN this morning and this song was the focus.
His interview was on how it was originally written for his wife and then in the video, came around to shed light on this somewhat 'hidden' social crisis - homelessness, which was the topic of discussion.

So if you read through the lyrics, it's all about falling in love with a 'stranger', being his wife and how she still mesmerizes him like when they first met.
But then the video shows Andy visiting with some homeless folks at a shelter and taking them to a salon and a clothing store room to get a makeover. This is done away from the mirror so they have no idea how they are being transformed. And then when it's complete, they are spun around in their chairs to see how lovely they look.
The expression on their faces seems like they are seeing themselves for the first time...with fresh eyes.
Simply heartwarming :) And yes, I had tears in my eyes. *looks away sheepishly*

Trust that I immediately searched my playlist to ensure it was still in there. And then I hit 'Repeat'...

Check out the video here.

And by the waaaay, it's my 2nd Blogiversary tomorrow! Hehe!
Who would have thought I will stick around this long...

2017- The Year of The Bucket List

*DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUN!!!*

Sorry. Just felt the title was cause for a somewhat dramatic 'entrance'.

Anyway, first off, my sincere apologies for going AWOL for a few weeks. Just couldn't be bothered to post for a while. Sometimes life happens. Not like anyone died or something, don't get me wrong. It was just one of those, 'I-Don't-Really-Give-A-Crap-For-A-Couple-Of-Weeks' feelings y'know?

Alrighty. I'm quite certain I don't need to say much on this post cause the title speaks for itself.
No, it's not a New Year Resolution per say. It's more of a 'I-Have-To-Get-This-Over-And-Done-With-Before-I-Hit-30' list. Or 27 in this case...
*whispers* The Big 30 is slowly coming upon us!! *chews fingernails*
My sis will laugh in my face when she reads this *side eye*

So without further ado, here is TBL '17 (The Bucket List 2017...just in case you couldn't figure that out. With my awesome attempt at being creative and all...)

Asterisk in this case means those that have been checked out. Lawd knows I have been excited to do these two since forever. Lots of people have asked me 'Why?' several times.
Question should be 'Why not?' Just because. Right?

Started off with a Mohawk. I have got big plans for this 'do *rubs palms with glee*
Spot the helix piercing?

In other news, the Prisma picture app is simply dope...

More updates coming soon to a post near you! *wink*

By the way, Happy New Year!
