Oh.
My.
Daze.
Finally! I knowwww!
It's been a 'hellova' past few weeks since I got back cause my new boss just resumed and we had (still have) a handful of reviews to put in place.
It's so bad I actually had to come to my sister's today just to get a breather and post this seeing as her wifi is the only other available internet source within my accessibility. (Sigh. Plenty English.)
In other words, lots and lots of paperwork and documentations. Whew!
Trust me, nobody hates paperwork as much as I do.
My trip to London, UK was a very brief one so I had to go on 'Full On Tourist Mode' and make the most of seven days. (Abeg, before my visa expires and I lose chances of ever getting it renewed)
Thanks to God and my weird sense of OCD (which is having an itch to always draw up to-do lists in my memo and put things in place way ahead of time) things worked even better than I planned. And I loved every single second of it!
Luckily, I met this Ghanaian/British guy at the tube and we hung out one day at Westminster - the one place every tourist in London is 'expected' to visit...apparently.
Was a good thing for me cause he knew all the spots. I would have probably gotten lost in the 'excitement' if I embarked on that tour alone.
So the original plan was to make this post more about pictures and less talk. One reason being that I have had somewhat of writer's block for sometime now *sad face*
But unfortunately, I have been having a hard time posting images and it's really getting on my nerves. Urgh.
So plan B will be to upload the pictures on my next post. I am quite certain that by then all the application mumbo jumbo going on with the technicalities will be a thing of the past (Amen to that)
So till then, keep your eyes peeled. *wink*

Music & Lyrics: Vol 6
I just realized this is my first post this year on this segment of the blog. Not that I haven't fallen in love with a few new (or old) songs' lyrics since my last post. There is always that one song among a host of many that hits me in the right way.
I guess I finally found it...again.
But with this one, what did it for me was the lyrics in the chorus...and the beat (love love love it!)

But with this one, what did it for me was the lyrics in the chorus...and the beat (love love love it!)
And if you're too smart to love me, dumb
If you've seen too much to love me blind
Can I use my hands to cover your eyes?
Just for one night, just for one night?
And if you're too smart to love me, dumb
If she was too cold to leave you kind
Can I use my hands to cover your eyes?
Just for one night, just for one night?
For those who can relate, download here and listen.
P.S: Yes, I am back from 'visiting the Queen'. And yes, I do have a lot to share with you guys.
Just give me a few more days to cool off and get my head back in the work game then I will certainly do the honors as is my usual custom *wink*

HeggZited Mush!
For those who are too polished to know what that means, here you go;
'Excited Much!'
Now that's out of the way...Whoopdidooo! Haven't been this enthusiastic in say...about over a year?
Yep. Affirmative (that seems to be my new favorite word)
Reason being because the final wait is over! And right on time!!
Got my passport back yesterday with my UK visa approved so I am pretty much all pumped up for my vacation. So much so that I have literally packed my luggage *covers face*
And to add to my 'heggzitement', a friend of mine from back in 'Uni' resides in London and has already planned my first night out.
Guess I just might stumble into my birthday a liiiittle tipsy (which is on the 4th of August btw *grin*)
Lol. I haven't even boarded yet and the fun is already rolling in! Just the kind of hype I need right now.
Seems like I am steady striking out each plan on my 2017 Bucket List.
Hehe *rubs palms together*

A Life Worth Celebrating
My reminder popped up on my phone on 07:07:2017.
It was Bernard Makinwa's birthday...or at least it would have been.
Of course, I threw him lots of birthday bants on social media (Instagram to be precise. Used to be Facebook once upon a time) as has been my usual 'ritual' since he passed.
And I'm pretty sure he kept looking down on me, laughing and shaking his head like, 'Since when did she get so energetic?'
Lol. Yep. A lot has changed since 2009 mate. Life is too short, isn't it? You sorta kinda taught me that. Sadly in a way I would never have hoped for...
I tried my best to suppress my emotions that day and I did quite well. Here I was thinking I had jumped that hurdle, then his little brother, Thomas (who happened to be my sweet little school son back in secondary school) sends me this last night;
...then the tears started flowing. Ugh.

And he goes on to post this-
The caption easily took me down memory lane of who Bernard was in a nutshell.
So gentle but so full of life. Every SINGLE time I remember Papoose, Benny comes to mind. Lol
Saw this in the office this morning. Had to sneak into the ladies' room and wipe away the tears that were already building up. I am such a cry baby *smh*
Life happens...0.0000001 milliseconds of the time.
You, my friend had a life worth celebrating; 27 years ago and centuries more to come...
On a much lighter note:
The wait is partially over!!!
Whoop Whoop!!
As regards my middle name, don't ask...

Pet Peeve
There is nothing I dread more than waiting.
Waiting for someone to get ready so I can meet up for an appointment or event (the worst is when we are running late already)
Waiting for feedback (another worst case is if it's urgent information)
Waiting for my order to be delivered (and yet again, the worst case scenario being when it's a food order...and I am so darn hungry. A hungry female is an angry female.)
Urgh.
This is pretty much my situation right now.
After writing my Management Professional Exams in May, it feels like it's taking forever for the results to be uploaded on their website.
And then I applied for my UK visa last week Friday. Now anytime I see this email address pop up in my notification, I kinda sorta cringe a little bit;
So frustrating.

True story...

Like;
When people?? When??? *rolls eyes*

And to think I have to wait three weeks for this...
Honestly. I can't take this torture anymore...
But then, I have no choose. :(
Say a prayer for me, will ya?

Once Bitten...
For those who really know me, you know I am one hell of a dog lover. I could literally see a random person walking one and I will approach him or her not for a conversation, but simply to pet the furry adorable thing. And I am not talking about just the teeny furry canines, even the huge ones as well.
I probably love them so much cause I have never had quite the ferocious encounter...until yesterday.
Okay. So here I was on my way to work feeling happy-go-lucky after such a good long weekend, (Monday was the Democracy Day public holiday) all dressed up with my pearls and fresh haircut when I saw my neighbor taking his dog for a walk.
Like I said, my instinct is always to give a dog a pat on the head of which I more often that not get a positive reception - an excited bark, a wag of the tail or several licks.
Sadly, my instincts failed me this time.
As I asked my usual question to all dog-walkers/owners I meet, 'Is he/she friendly?', and gently stretched my hand towards it, my mind told me he was receptive...but then my eyes saw and my hand felt otherwise. Doubt I can ever forget the look on its face...
Weird fact is that after the incident I giggled and answered the question myself, 'Apparently not.'
Good enough there were no passengers around to snicker at the horror written on my face as I struggled to lose its grip on my hand. Who would've thought a puncture wound could hurt this bad...and bleed so much.
The first thing that went through my head as I washed the blood off was 'Rabies...oh God, No!'
Sure thing, I went straight to the doctor's to get a vaccine shot after work...and now my arm feels like metal. Never knew anti-tetanus injections have that side effect.
It's been from one pain to the other for the past two weeks- my left ear got blocked and developed some pretty annoying aches for no apparent reason (going for a flush tomorrow), I had to get two teeth filled a couple of days ago and now this.
So yeah, that's the story of my life as we see it.
I soooo need a vacation right now *sigh*

Yep. I got bit by one. The shock is yet to wear out.

Isoken
I must say, Nollywood has been pulling her weight for some time now. Pretty impressive.
Who would have thought once upon a time that I will yearn to spend my earnings on a Nigerian movie showing at the cinemas? I wouldn't have either.
But then, here we are. One of the many other reasons why our start-up, Sodas and Popcorn will be even more worth it.
My sis tagged me a couple of weeks ago on a teaser posted on Instagram for the upcoming Nollywood movie called, Isoken (which I had been keeping my ears on the ground for prior to the tag) and says we should go see it together when it's released.
First off, my sister never watches Nigerian movies. I mean like never, ever. So this truly meant something.
I hadn't really done much of a 'research' on the movie until that day. So I did eventually and I loved the simplicity and quality of the photo shoot for the posters.
But here is a little more info on the movie.
It was directed by Jadesola Osiberu, known for her notable works such as Gidi Up and The Juice both which air on the online television platform, Ndani TV.
The plot is pretty basic to be honest. It's a romcom about a young woman who seems to be having the time of her life, but then, her folks are worried she may die well, (you guessed right) single. As usual *rolls eyes*
And then there's the cast - this was probably what really caught my attention. Well, not in its entirety. Funke Akindele to be precise, my 'ross' modeh *big grin*
But then there is more to it as it's also a 'story of self-discovery that explores cultural expectations, racial stereotypes and the bonds that unite families, in touching, dramatic and sometimes funny ways' as quoted from Pulse.
Lol. One scene I'm looking out for:
In other news (switching back to Hollywood), Jack Sparrow is baaaack!
Y'all know how much I love me some Johnny!
