Gossip Girl Season 04 Episode 07 in the year 2010. (5 solid years ago...Geez. Time has no chill whatsoever)
That's where and when I knew Robyn existed.
And I just had to google her up. No. First I downloaded the song 'Hang with me' which was featured in that episode. Couldn't help myself.
Then, I googled her up.
Just the other day out of sheer boredom I was going back through memory lane on YouTube- GG to be precise. Though it's hard to admit, I do kinda miss all the drama and what-nots of the so-called Upper East Side. Reminds me of when I had nothing to really worry about *urgh*
From link to link I recalled different tracks from the series and Robyn obviously came up.
And I just loved her all over again.
Platform shoes, boy cut, vocals and all.
If you're keen on giving any of her hits a listen, you should go with 'Hang With Me'- the Avicii mix. (Love!)
Oh! And there's my fave vid of hers, 'Call your girlfriend'. Ignore the lyrics. Just watch her bust some 'European' moves...who would've thought?!

'Sweet Sweet Jane...'
First heard this song in the movie 'The Best of Me'. Sad one, that movie. I cried like a baby. Though given a terrible rating by Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.
That being said, like many weird songs do, this song got to me. Maybe its the Texan drawl with which the Cowboy Junkies portrayed this version.
I'm oddly wired. Or like my friend would say, ' You're weird like that'
Probably my new hit for those melancholic moments of mine. Strangely it does kinda lift my spirits...
Took a shot whilst listening to it last night. Was in one of my 'moods' then.

Music does have a way of reflecting in your expressions, doesn't it?

Nontokozo
CheerZ to the freaking weekend. I drink to that...Yeah Yeah!
TGIF people. Now who doesn't love Fridays???
So was heading to work this a.m and as always plugged in my phone to the car speakers for some music.
You know when you just remember a string of songs by an amazing artist and you're just craving to listen to 'em at that very minute? Toya Delazy was my craving for the day.
The normal thing to do was to search my playlist. But then...I found nothing.
Huh?
Scrolled through...still nothing.
No 'Pump it up'
No 'Losing my Love'
No 'Heart'
No 'My City'...
You must be kidding me phone! Stop playing with my emotions! *straightface*
Well, long story short I had to download all the tracks again...after a series of trials and errors as some joker thought it would be cool to post remixes on almost all the links *kmt*
Thanks to mp3tunes.org that was sorted. I owe you one guys. Well...not really.
In other words, Latoya Nontokozo Buthelezi is worth the time...and megabytes
*bobbs head to beat*

See You Again...
It's a wonder how your spirit is unconsciously in sync with some special people, even when they no longer 'exist'
Slept off last night and woke up this morning with Charlie's voice in my head and felt I just happened to be 'fond' of the song at that moment.
Then I realized, yesterday was the 6th July. Today was supposed to be his birthday.
Nah. Not Charlie Puth. He's still alive and kicking.
Talking about a friend turned companion turned brother. Bernard 'Bernie Mak' Makinwa
LoL. Funny thing is while I'm here sulking (with the rest of your loved ones) you're probably having a ball.
Well, till we see again then...shall we? *wink*
P.S: Thomas is REALLY making you proud. I'm sure you know more about the deets than I do. I mean, I'm a mortal. You on the other hand are an angel watching over us :)
Oh yeah! Could you do me a favor and give my pops a warm hug for me? Tell him I miss him too...always.

The #rePlay Series: ePisode 4
Arghhhhh!!
I can't get over this song! *busting a move*
Jon Bellion is a lion slowly getting out of his cage!
You know what? I'd just drop this here. Listening is better than believing. Let your ears justify this...(for those that have the pleasure of reading my blog that is)

The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Urgh...the title would've looked much better if there was a teeny rose icon at the end.
That aside....
I won't say I ever did fancy Tupac's musical works per say.
Well yeah, the dude was super talented and all, but I had ears mostly for Rock, Alternative music and the likes. Don't misquote me though. I was embraced in hip hop so bad my friend back in secondary school used to try and slap rap out of my tongue...just not really towards Shakur.
*sigh* Gone were the days when baggies and over-sized tees rolled up from the sleeves were pretty much my 'all-day-every-day'
I never quite researched on Tupac's 'expertise' in music untill recently and the saying 'Never judge a book by its cover' came to mind.
One can't deny that rap and poetry go hand in hand. A blend of lyrics with rhymes and in-depth translations. But then, some are still of the mindset that poetry is for the learned 'queens' class of humans and rap...well, rap is for the 'underdogs'...
Think again

Haaaave You Met Ted?
Ted Mosby.
I still don't have any inkling why, but my very good friend reminds me so much of him. Coincidentally he studied a course pretty much linked to Architecture. Building Technology.
Okay. So my Ted got married last weekend.
Still surreal to me. Weird more like.
Dude has a 'Mrs'...hmmm
For a millisecond I had this nostalgic feeling and a voice popped into my head. Sounded something like , 'The one that got away'
*tear drop* Don't worry. Kifi would be fine (not a typo. He's Ted and I'm KiFi)
Thing is, I had this feel of 'accomplishment' when I was headed back to Lagos after the wedding (Yep. Some friends are worth going a 'mile' for...literally)
It felt so refreshing to be a part of someone-that-matters' special day. A day that would never repeat itself again- this of course we all pray and hope for.
So here's to you Ted. *raises glass of chocolate shake*
